Little Prayers

'Little Prayers is a song cycle being performed for the first time by Hannah Griffin and Norman Meehan, accompanied by a small chamber group.

Comprising texts composed by poet Bill Manhire, it is centred on Bill’s 2016 cycle ‘Known unto God’, commemorating the Battle of the Somme. In performance, that sequence is bookended by his poems ‘Huia’ and ‘Little Prayers’, composed shortly after the 2019 mosque attacks in Christchurch.
